    Can reservations be made by phone/e-mail?

    Yes, reservations can be made by phone or by e-mail. To make your reservation, please tell us your name, the period of your stay, the size of your group, the room you would like, and your contact information.

    Can changes to reservations and cancellations be made by phone/e-mail?

    Yes, changes to reservations and cancellations can also be made by phone/e-mail.

    How much is the cancellation fee?

    Standard protocol for our cancellation fees is as follows: If the cancellation is made between 4-10 days prior to your stay 10%; 2-3 days prior 50%; the day before 50%; the day of 100%

    What is the latest possible time to check-in?

    Check-in hours are between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Since the front desk will be closed after 10:00 pm, please call if arriving later than 10:00 pm.

    Do you take payments by credit card?

    Yes, we can take payments by credit card. We accept the following credit cards on our official site: VISA, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club. We accept the following cards for on-site payments: VISA, Mastercard, American Express

    Is there a parking lot?

    No, we do not have a parking lot. Please use the nearest available coin parking lot.

    What are your check-in/check-out hours?

    Check-in hours are between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm, check-out is until 11:00 am.

    Is it possible to extend the period of a stay?

    Extensions can be made if there are open rooms available. Please ask the staff for information on pricing.

    Is it possible to store luggage at the front desk before check-in in/after check-out?

    Yes, we can store your luggage free-of-charge. However, please refrain from leaving any valuables with us. Additionally, please note that the front desk hours are from 7:00 am - 11:00 pm.

    Can minors stay in a room without adult supervision?

    We ask that all minors be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

    Are children counted towards a group size for a room?

    Children under the age of 3 who don’t need breakfast/their own futon will not be counted. Children over the age of 3 will be counted towards the group size even if they don’t require a futon/breakfast.

    Can we leave behind things we don’t need?

    Please dispose of any common trash and plastic bottles in the trash can found in your room. We charge an oversized garbage handling fee of 3,000 yen for suitcases, briefcases, and other large articles.

    What should I do if I forget something at the hotel?

    We will ship it back to you by ‘C.O.D.’ (collect on delivery). Please make any inquiries about forgotten articles by e-mail or phone.

    Is there a smoking room? Are there any rooms where it’s acceptable to smoke?

    Smoking is not permitted in any of the rooms. Please use the battari shogi (bench) outside of the building to smoke.

    Does the bathroom have the toilet in a separate room?

    Rooms at Horikawa Gojo Main Building (Rooms 1-7) and Bukkoji Higashimachi (all rooms) have a unit bath (bathroom and toilet in the same room), while the bathroom and toilet are separate at Horikawa Gojo (Rooms 101-106).

    Do you have WiFi?

    We have free WiFi available throughout the building. We will provide you with the password when you check in.

    Are there any pet-friendly rooms?

    Unfortunately, we cannot make accommodations for pets.

    Is there a coin laundry available?

    There is a 24-hour coin laundry located a 3-minute walk away.

    Do you carry the Kyoto one-day buss pass?

    The Kyoto one-day bus pass is available for purchase at the front desk.

    Is there an elevator?

    No, we do not have an elevator. Please use the stairs to get to the 2nd and 3rd floors. We can provide a chair in the room of guests who have disabilities in their feet or knees.

    We heard that guests at “Horikawa Gojo” receive free vouchers for the bathhouse?

    We provide free vouchers for the “Gokoyu” bathhouse across the street every day. On days that “Gokoyu” is closed, we have vouchers for a different bathhouse around a 10-minute walk away. Body soap, shampoo, conditioner, and other amenities are available at the front desk.

    Can you use the bathhouse if you have tattoos?

    Yes, you can.

    What time is breakfast at “Horikawa Gojo”?

    Breakfast is available between 7:30 am and 10:00 am in the lobby.

    Can you accommodate for allergies in your breakfast menu?

    Since breakfast is served in a buffet format, we ask that you exercise your own discretion to some degree. If you have severe allergies, please let us know either beforehand or when checking in.

    Being a wooden-structure, doesn’t it get cold during the winter?

    All rooms and the lobby are equipped with individual AC/heater systems. There’s also floor heating in the lobby and in every room on the first floor of Horikawa Gojo.

An Introduction to The Ryokan

There are two different ryokan that we manage at Luck You—“Horikawa Gojo” and “Bukkoji Higashimachi”.
